NBA Finals: A BDL Preview
Plenty of rest this time, for the Lakers and the Magic — plenty of time to prepare for each other as opponents. As usual, SS&R has contributed a series preview to Yahoo! Sports' official NBA blog, Ball Don't Lie. SB Nation's Magic blog, Third Quarter Collapse, also contributed a preview from the Magic perspective, and it's well worth the read. Head on over to BDL, and check it out!
Once you're done, come back on over here and stick around, as we've got lots planned for the next few days.

Sorry, a bit off topic, but this is hilarious.
Some one re-edited this video after the ECF.

Great preview Josh....
After reading that I feel like we will sweep the Magic with one hand tied behind our backs. I also feel like I can lift up my car and get a supermodel into bed. Damn, you are good.

Hahaha...
Don’t know about all that…

Actually, I do have to admit...
I’m feeling much more confident about this series after writing that preview. Things appeared a certain way to me from a more general view, but once I got into it and broke it down, I started seeing things that didn’t stick out so much from an overall, general view of the series. By the time I finished writing that, I felt great about the series.
Here’s one more thing that I didn’t mention: Last year, with the Lakers, you kinda got a sense that all of them except Kobe were happy enough just to get to the Finals. Obviously, it’s not enough for Kobe. And obviously, none of them would actually admit that. They’d say all the right things. But it’s clear that they had accomplished something that already satisfied most of them, whereas Boston was the truly hungry team that would not be denied in the Finals. This year, that is the impression I get, but the other way around. I think that like last year’s Lakers, the Magic weren’t supposed to get this far. They’ll say the right things, but I question whether they really want this as bad as the Lakers, or whether many of them will struggle to overcome their satisfaction at already getting farther than they should have.
The intangibles – Kobe Bryant, and the Lakers’ mentality and mindset as a team – definitely favors the Lakers, I think.

Yep...
Just watched Around the Horn and their first topic was Kobe’s legacy.
Kobe will never admit it until after he’s retired, but it’s almost scary how important these next 4-7 games are in terms of his place in basketball history. I think he deserves it and I want LA to win, if for nothing else, for Kobe.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
Me too, I am personally invested
As are a lot of you who still rooted for Kobe once Shaq left, through all the losing and playoff heartbreak, and have been defending his virtues almost daily to those whose perception of him have been distorted by the media at large.

I see what you are saying
and sometimes it take losing the NBA Finals to make the whole team realize what it take to win it. Nice breakdown Josh. Very interesting to read.
Thursday can’t come fast enough man.

NBA Finals: Lakers v. Magic. Game 1 June 4th
Very good preview.
The only thing that concerns me is the Laker’s execution this series, particularly on the offensive end.
The Lakers want to win – we know this. They will bring their A game effort every night, but the execution won’t always be there because of the Magic defense and perhaps overzealous unsmart play.
