I love the Onion.

Haven’t been around the Onion lately. Reminds me of HBO’s “Not Necessarily the News” I heard it once equated to sarcastic sarcasm. Good link Gils_K

Ease up on the link spamming

We don’t do that here. You can put a link to your work in the sig, and If you want us to check out your site, email it to Josh Tucker or Wondahbap and they’ll check it out. If they like what they see, it’ll go up with the Credits like all of our other links.

In the meantime, you’ll curry a lot more favor by actually contributing to our site.

Important parade information

Straight from the Lakers site.

I know a few regulars have been wondering about this. Who’s going?

Beginning at 11:00 AM, double-decker busses carrying the players, coaching staff, Lakers executives and City officials will depart from STAPLES Center at Figueroa and Chick Hearn Ct. and travel a nearly two mile parade route along Figueroa to the Coliseum where the “official” championship ceremony will take place beginning at noon.

All Lakers fans are invited to stand along Figueroa to cheer the Lakers players having just won the fifteenth NBA Championship in the franchise’s history. The first 95,000 fans to arrive at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will be invited inside to attend a ceremony during which City and team officials, Coach Phil Jackson and several players will address the crowd. Coliseum gates will open beginning at 9:30 AM for early arriving fans who will be able to watch the parade on giant video screens in addition to being entertained by the Laker Girls and other special guests.

Mark Cuban:

Could he have traded Dirk for Kobe?

"Two years ago, I can’t say with 100% certainty but I can say that the discussions went far along and probably with about 80% certainty we could have done it. I always had the feeling that the devil you knew was better than the devil you didn’t know. You look at Kobe and you say, "Look, this guy is a great, great, great, great player but he wasn’t great enough to even get his team to the playoffs." We had a team that was making progress, doing well and we ended up taking that team to the finals."

I wish we had waited until this offseason to give Andrew a new contract. Had we signed him now instead of last off-season we could have definitely signed him at a lower price.

Then again hind sight is always 20/20

Is it just me or does Kobe’s finger looks very…. odd?

by intuitive on Jun 16, 2009 3:35 PM PDT reply actions

It’s the injuries. Dislocation and all that stuff. The man just has an incredible pain threshold. The base of the finger looks so swollen.

New angle to be judged in ten years: Kobe's Lakers won a title without a single Hall of Fame player besides himself

Don’t ruin it, Pau!

Just kidding.

Pau will probably be HoF

just cause he’s international. First Spanish player to win a title.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

Adidas is allowed to use Kobe's image to sell tees?

Is that Adidas?
Wasn’t Adidas one of the companies that dropped Kobe after the whole Colorado incident?

by intuitive on Jun 16, 2009 5:10 PM PDT up reply actions

No Kobe dropped Adidas before that for Nike

But they still want to make money off of him, apparently!

Oh I see. Is Adidas allowed to market him though when he’s not signed with them? That’s weird

Ariza had the off-season annual meeting with Mitch and Phil.

Ariza had his season-ending interview with coach Phil Jackson and general manager Mitch Kupchak on Tuesday.

“I definitely felt a lot of love,” Ariza said about the atmosphere at the meeting. "They definitely told me I improved a lot and they’re happy with the way that I played and how much I was able to help our team.

“I’d love to come back. Money is important, this is our job here, but I built a bond with my coaches and my teammates. We have a really good team and I think we’ll be good for a long time.”

Jerry Buss wasn’t at Orlando to accept the trophy because he was at the prelims for the World Series for poker?

by intuitive on Jun 16, 2009 5:57 PM PDT reply actions

Yep

Obviously he’s one of the most recognizable poker celebs, so I’m not surprised. A friend of mine played the $1500 yesterday and was swiftly knocked out.

Buss isn't just a celeb

I believe he won a WSOP bracelet for the Stud games back in the 90s too and he plays a pretty solid game. Very in tune with the fundamentals of poker and just plays pretty solid poker from what I’ve seen.

I still wish he would have accepted the trophy. It did not feel right that those two sons of his were accepting the trophy and giving one of the worst acceptance speeches of all time.

I was one of the lucky few to be invited to watch Game 5 vs. Denver at Metta World Peace's Private Party. He was very intense watching the game, and it was obvious that it bothered him a lot that he couldn't be there helping his teammates.

This is a video I took of Ron's reaction to Kobe's last shot at the buzzer to tie. Him raising his hands was the happiest I saw him during the whole game. I was hoping to record a great celebration.
