LIVE - Lakers vs. Rockets: Game 7 - 4th Quarter
A decent third quarter. Didn't stretch the lead, but didn't really let them cut into it either. Bynum is playing great, Kobe hasn't needed to take over, and Pau Gasol continues to impress. And how about that Ariza-Farmar transition defense? Gotta love that...
Play even a semi-decent 4th quarter, and this game should be impossible to win for the Rockets.

Pau padding his rebound stats... 17 now, I think.

Scola grabs the jersey (somehow didn't get called), then shoves LO to the ground. Not even a tech on that?

Not a tech.

I agree... I'm just pointing to that inconsistency again...
Based on several other calls they’ve made, in this and other series, it should have been.
Kobe’s tech in Game 6 and Bynum’s mini-shove were both less than that Scola pull/grab/tug/shove.

Scola racking up fouls now. 4 on him. He's getting chippy.

The Lakers have figured out how to stop the midget -- it is not done on the perimeter, it is done at the rim.

Gasol with another block!
This game is over. Houston will be lucky to get 68 in the game.
Which makes it even more impressive that Gasol is still playing with something to prove.

...And 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks, 1 turnover
He had an OK game, his extra special services were not needed, but that is not a common occurrence, nor should there be a causation implied from the correlation (Kobe scores less, Lakers win).

You know I have to give a slight apology to Fish.
He really didn’t do too much differently form a defensive standpoint today. Our bigs played Brooks much better this game, and it made all the difference in the world. They were much more active either hedging the screen or dropping back and ignoring Hayes or Scola at 20 ft. out.
Great D today.
Lakers are 7-3 against the Rockets this year.
I think this game highlighted the importance of Bynum staying in the game and contributing
He looked good, even if his knee still seems to limit his jumping ability.
He got those spider arm rebounds we were used to seeing, and altered a ton of shots, including Brooks’ layups.
The game was over when Ariza threw that oop to Bynum.

Lakers win boo hoo hoo!
Well SS&R looks like your guys have done it. Usually the better team does shine in game 7.Like game 5 the rockets just didn’t have it today . There is a part of me that would like to see kobe win w/o shaquille to get that monkey off his back. All the best to you guys for the remainder of the season.
Game 3 was the one that cooked the Rockets... Home court is decisive in the playoffs, as we have seen.
Houston broke serve in Game 1 and then let the Lakers back into the driver’s seat in Game 3…

Strangely enough
I think the Lakers would have won in fewer games had the Rockets had Yao.
The Lakers never beat the Yao-less Rockets at home.
And I still believe that Yao can be fronted, something I’m surprised Portland did not do. Yao is a liability on defense, and if fronted on offense, it’s tough for him to run down lobs because of his lack of speed.

Portland fronted him consistently (with good results) after the Game 1 debacle.

Oh, my bad
What the short story on they lost again? The Blazers seemed to have enough offense to beat the Rockets, if Yao could be contained on defense.
Or I can just go to the Edge and read.

Sorry for all the observations
But their coming to me one by one.
I don’t remember seeing Jack Nicholson so animated and engaging the crowd as much as today.
"This is not a game for boys. This is a game for men." - Phil Jackson
Well now
That was a lot easier than anyone expected, wasn’t it? I admit, it would have been convenient to not have to play you guys in the finals, but winning a championship is never supposed to be convenient. You guys will probably have an easier series against Denver, although the Lakers are going to be exhausted at first.
Must be boring having to wait
Are you hoping for Boston or Orlando?

Definitely Boston
I’d much rather play a depleted and exhausted Celtics team that the Cavs smoked by double digits in the Q than a Magic team that embarrassed us by 21 points in Orlando. Plus, I want the pleasure of watching my team end this quixotic repeat attempt by Boston
great win
rockets gave a god fight at home. but at our place they got stomped the last 2 times. weird theres no rocket fans here like there alwayz is hmmmmm
Another observation
UPS delivered on Sunday!
