Lamar Odom Injury Update
"According to Lakers spokesman John Black, results of Lamar Odom’s Monday morning CT scan and MRI are that he has a lower back contusion (bruised back).
His status for Tuesday evening’s Game 5 vs. Houston - which tips off at 7:30 p.m. - is questionable, and his condition will be updated subsequent to Tuesday morning’s shootaround.
Odom bruised his back while falling hard to the floor during an airborne drive in Sunday’s 99-87 loss at Houston, as Rockets forward Shane Battier slid underneath Odom while attempting to draw a charge.
After the game, Odom said that he would not practice on Monday, but that we could 'hopefully help the team on Tuesday.' "

Posted this over at Dream Shake too
It clears up a misconception about offensive charges.
The rule book states:
A defensive player is not permitted to move into the path of an offensive player once he has started his upward motion with the ball to attempt a field goal or pass.
So, you shouldn’t be looking at when the offensive player leaves his feet, it’s when he starts his upward motion to shoot or pass.

Lakers....
I’m a Lakers fan, but they are over-rated and so is their coach! NO championship caliber team, as they believe they are, plays UN-INSPIRED ball,as the Lakers did yesterday. That was beyond humiliating to get demolished by a group of “2nd stringers” who are in the starting line-up due to injuries.
They are too SOFT for a playoff team and I will be surprised, at this stage, if they beat Denver. The Lakers have no idea what a KILLER INSTINCT is and they play to the beat of their lazy azz coach! He has no passion or fire and neither do they.
D. Fish needs to sit down and allow the youngsters (Farmar and Brown) run the show.
Poor Lakers…once again, they disappoint!

What?

Have you heard of Kobe Bryant
5 wins down.... 11 more to go
Bynum
WTF is wrong with him? He and the rest of the Lakers make TOO much dam money to complain about CONFIDENCE! All they need him to do is DEFEND (but who does that on the Lakers), REBOUND, HUSTLE and BLOCK shots…you don’t need confidence to do those things. We have enough players who can score!!!! Bynum needs to pull his head out of his AZZ and play with some authority!! He can work on scoring next season.
LAKERS, Pleeeeeeeez play DEFENSE!!!! I wonder if they realize how bad it looks that even the mediocre teams can get to the rim against them. Put a body on somebody, DAM IT!

Here’s Kobe Bryant, unfiltered, in response to all the outside negativity around the Lakers after their Game 4 dud in a lax situation in Houston …
"Go back to Chicago when they won championships. They did the same dumb thing, too. When you’re in the moment, when you’re going through the season, everything’s blown out of proportion. Everyone’s looking at it under a microscope, especially nowadays.
"When you win a championship, no one remembers if you had a 3-1 series lead or you blew a 2-0 series lead. No one remembers Boston had two seven-game series in the first two rounds last year. I don’t know. It’s something for you guys to talk about, I guess. I don’t know."
Asked about Cleveland and Denver having an easy time in their series, Bryant said: "We did last year, too, except for one time. Boston came away with the championship when they weren’t supposed to be mentally tough enough to get it done, so I don’t pay much attention to it."

Agree with every word of that.
Does’t matter how many games it takes you to advance, just as long as you advance. I am positive the Lakers will come out buzzing tomorrow and regain the lead in the series.
GO BRONCOS IN 2009 AND BEYOND!!
Lakers and Rockets tied 2-2
Kobe don't be stupid. Stop making excuses. The Lakers are not the Chicago Bulls.
Jordan’s bulls were able to lose a game 4 and still bounce back and win, sure. But the Lakers are different. They either win hard in a series, or get dominated. 2001, they won hard. last year they won all series hard. except for finals. which they got dominated. Lakers are different in that there is no middle ground. Either you win hard or get dominated.
I don't know
I’m 50-50 on if the Lakers should play Lamar because he didn’t produce last game and how much of a impact can he really have if he isn’t 100% but then I don’t know who I would play instead of Lamar so hopefully Lamar is fully ok and is ready to contribute from the start.
You guys probably should want Odom to play
Otherwise it frees Artest to rove around and provide help D on Kobe. You guys seriously wants Josh Powell starting?

Naw man put Bynum in the starting lineup and tell bynum that if he doesn't score at least 25 points
the lakers are going to cut his ass. the solution with bynum is to threaten to trade his ass. jerry west should already be negotiating with teams that need a center, ie. the rockets.
They should allow mid playoff trades. Then the lakers can give away bynum to the rockets for say shane battier. the rockets will get a 7 footer to match up w/ pau and the lakers will take away the kobe stopper.
Havent you heard Phil tell Bynum not to worry about his scoring?
Why would we give away Bynum for Shane? Their salaries dont even match. So the trade wouldn’t even work….. Your logic is downright mind boggling.
Lamar Odom’s Health
An MRI administered to Lakers forward Lamar Odom Monday showed that Odom suffered a contusion (bruise) when he fell on his back against the Rockets in Game 4 Sunday in Houston. Officially, he is a game-time decision for Game 5, but privately, Odom told at least one Lakers source that he will play Tuesday night.
Odom didn’t practice Monday. Instead, he spent most of his time in the treatment room at the Lakers’ practice facility getting electrical stimulation, ice and massage.
What? Why wouldnt he get electrical stimulation if his back is hurting?
What do you mean “man up?” He said hes going to play even though his back hurts…… .. ……
Wow.
