Lakers @ Rockets, Game 4: 4th Quarter Live Thread
Disgraceful.
Shameful.
Embarrassing.
Just about any negative adjective you can think of can be used to describe the Lakers effort today. At this point, I'm not even sure that a huge 4th quarter rally to save some face and regain some momentum even matters. It's an inexcusable performance. Period.
For those of you still around for this disgusting performance... here's the 4th quarter thread.

Happened a few times to him playing for Spain
As did choking FTs, e.g. vs. Russia in 2007

I like Farmar and Shannon together
FINALLY Phil puts them together…. after we’re down 25 points
Problem is they are both drivers, so they really need Kobe on the perimeter at the 3 to make that work.

Hayes plays better post defense than Yao Ming and Gasol do.

Morey said that, by their stats on post defense
Hayes is one of the best in the NBA.
draft dejuan blair
This is when it would be nice for Bynum to play well
because Gasol is looking soft…..
I like Brown's effort

Well, I'm about done with this one... Time to break out the thesaurus...

how bad is this
No Yao
No Mcgrady
no Mutumbo
Artest not playing well
6’ 6" center shuting down Laker 7 footers
humiliating loss
this is not a championship team
Denver and Cleveland laughing their a$$ off
This is a low point for a Laker fan
"this is not a championship team"
Far as I can tell, the Finals have not been played yet

We should continually be progressing upward though
For us its more like 2 steps forward 1 step back.
It should be baby steps forward…….
he needs to get in the game
he sits there like a spectator, while the Lakers are getting blown out. Sometimes a timeout will help break the other teams momentum and get your team to focus. He needs to be a coach.
The ticky tack fouls on us continue
Not why we lost but its still annoying to watch
Finally
Some reversion to the mean.
Just hope the Lakers can give em a little goose a little scare here.
And “Kobe sucks?” Hmmm.

i never said anything about LA not being classy
Gils said “Houston stay classy” so i was saying that its better to STAY classy than not be classy at all. Like Utah fans, or spurs fans. Im not a troll so i dont diss city’s/team’s on their blog.

Well at least somethings clicking we probably wont get this game
but maybe we’ll take this into Game 5. Right now we are hustling and actually trying….
did Bynum remind anyone of Kwame Brown ?
At Least Kwame’s hands. Since the Utah series, he gets stripped everytime under the basket. He is also dropping passes like Kwame.
People like to point out how great Kareem is as a big man coach
But fail to mention he also trained Kwame & Co. before that

time to take this 4th quarter effort into game 5

Instead they bumble the ball all through the zone

I think he was trying to tell the guys he wont just bail them out every damn time
because I think our players EXPECT Kobe to bail them out whenever we dont have the lead
Well, that sucked

Nah
I think I’ll just wait and watch Game 5.
The Lakers have already won one away game, so I know they’re not like the Blazers.

We are not like Portland......
Game 5 will be interesting to see how we adjust. I think we can do it.
This Lakers team has done well with their backs against the wall

Playing down to the level of opposition..
Isn’t Championship basketball. There is no “light switch” they can magically turn on, as evidenced in last year’s Finals.
Well, we're waiting....
What we did in the 4th quarter
we need to do for 48 minutes in Game 5. AND we need to play with the same type of intensity
Well Gasol started having some success against Hayes
He has to continue to attack him in the post

And he needs to start moving around in the paint more
In the first half he just stood around in the paint and allowed Hayes to push him around.
I was just about to say
I hope Odom is ok to play, because he’s critical to the Laker’s success

Oooooooooooohh. PJ drops the F-bomb
in post game interview. Never heard that before. Then he gets all up in TJ Simers stuff. Love it.
"Don't I know you from somewhere"?. "Nah, that ain't me, I'm from Buffalo" - Axel Foley
Someone asked him if the Lakers were embarassed.
Not direct quote, but (and he was being antagonistic the whole time) he said Houston played a great game, give them some fucking credit. Then TJ Simers asks him again if it is embarassing, and he says if you want to write it that way TJ the go ahead and write it. You just want to say it so go ahead.

IT is f*ing embarrassing and the Rockets deserve credit for it. I donno if I can support the Lakers anymore after that effort.
Really? Wow… and your nick is “laker”, too.

The first 3 quarters
Houston made shots, we played no defense. Everyone came out flat and expected Kobe to do everything (which he couldnt). It got really ugly at one point. Turnovers early really killed us. Battier made some crazy 3’s
Odom left the game during the 3rd quarter. He was going up for a dunk attempt and Battier drew the charge Odom fell completely on his back. You could hear his fall through the TV, He couldn’t cushion the fall with his hands.
In the 4th quarter Shannon, Farmar, Gasol, Luke, and Kobe were in the game and drew up a little nice run (obviously wasn’t enough because we were down by way too much). We got the box score to look pretty respectable so we didn’t lose by that much. In the 4th we played with intensity and played some modest defense. It was how we should have played all game.
It’s going to sound like a lie now, but I honestly thought the Rockets had to go to Battier more often. He was great in the Blazers series, hit some truly clutch 3s, and he’d force Kobe to work on the defensive end.
I’m not sure if you can draw conclusions from a 4th quarter when there’s such a disparity… We’ll have to wait for game 5.
Damn, I hate Sunday games… shouldn’t have missed it.

He's undergoing and MRI and CT scan tomorrow.
I thought they would go to Battier too. I didnt really know why they deferred from him so much….
Took the words right out of my mouth
It’s about time that we sit Fisher and let the young guards handle Brooks. 2pts for Fisher today Shannon tripled that matter of fact he made Fishers 2pts look like nothing putting in 14pts. Lakers have to give a great effort and I can’t understand Houston is too short to guard the Lakers. This was a pittiful performance but I’m not worried Lakers better wake up and Gasol has to dominate Hayes, just ridiculous.
