Lakers @ Rockets, Game 4: 4th Quarter Live Thread

Disgraceful.

Shameful.

Embarrassing.

Just about any negative adjective you can think of can be used to describe the Lakers effort today. At this point, I'm not even sure that a huge 4th quarter rally to save some face and regain some momentum even matters. It's an inexcusable performance. Period.

For those of you still around for this disgusting performance... here's the 4th quarter thread.

I like Farmar and Shannon together

FINALLY Phil puts them together…. after we’re down 25 points

Problem is they are both drivers, so they really need Kobe on the perimeter at the 3 to make that work.

Hayes plays better post defense than Yao Ming and Gasol do.

Hayes is one of the best in the NBA.

No Yao
No Mcgrady
no Mutumbo
Artest not playing well
6’ 6" center shuting down Laker 7 footers
humiliating loss
this is not a championship team
Denver and Cleveland laughing their a$$ off

Or is it really the talent he coaches?

he needs to get in the game

he sits there like a spectator, while the Lakers are getting blown out. Sometimes a timeout will help break the other teams momentum and get your team to focus. He needs to be a coach.

What we did in the 4th quarter

we need to do for 48 minutes in Game 5. AND we need to play with the same type of intensity

Well Gasol started having some success against Hayes

Someone asked him if the Lakers were embarassed.

Not direct quote, but (and he was being antagonistic the whole time) he said Houston played a great game, give them some fucking credit. Then TJ Simers asks him again if it is embarassing, and he says if you want to write it that way TJ the go ahead and write it. You just want to say it so go ahead.

The first 3 quarters

Houston made shots, we played no defense. Everyone came out flat and expected Kobe to do everything (which he couldnt). It got really ugly at one point. Turnovers early really killed us. Battier made some crazy 3’s

Odom left the game during the 3rd quarter. He was going up for a dunk attempt and Battier drew the charge Odom fell completely on his back. You could hear his fall through the TV, He couldn’t cushion the fall with his hands.

In the 4th quarter Shannon, Farmar, Gasol, Luke, and Kobe were in the game and drew up a little nice run (obviously wasn’t enough because we were down by way too much). We got the box score to look pretty respectable so we didn’t lose by that much. In the 4th we played with intensity and played some modest defense. It was how we should have played all game.

by intuitive on May 10, 2009 3:33 PM PDT up reply actions

It’s going to sound like a lie now, but I honestly thought the Rockets had to go to Battier more often. He was great in the Blazers series, hit some truly clutch 3s, and he’d force Kobe to work on the defensive end.

I’m not sure if you can draw conclusions from a 4th quarter when there’s such a disparity… We’ll have to wait for game 5.

Damn, I hate Sunday games… shouldn’t have missed it.

Took the words right out of my mouth

It’s about time that we sit Fisher and let the young guards handle Brooks. 2pts for Fisher today Shannon tripled that matter of fact he made Fishers 2pts look like nothing putting in 14pts. Lakers have to give a great effort and I can’t understand Houston is too short to guard the Lakers. This was a pittiful performance but I’m not worried Lakers better wake up and Gasol has to dominate Hayes, just ridiculous.
