Game Thread: Utah Game 4 - Second Half
Lakers are looking good offensively in the first half (thanks mainly to Kobe), and passable defensively (but not great). It's going to be hard for Utah to win with LA shooting this well, even in Utah.
Here is your 2nd Half Thread.

How come we’re already playing Game 4 while the Heat and Hawks have just finished up their Game 3 today?
This series is quick. We have a game every other day.
We got a really quick schedule
Every other day until after Game 5 — which should mean every other day for the entire series.

This just makes me laugh
I just start laughing, almost uncontrollably, when he gets like this
Strength & Honor
Kobe is blazing hot. Don't tell me there's no such thing as hot streaks...
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
Kobe with his 32 -- 14 of 17...
Doris: “This is as much about will as it is about skill tonight…”
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
Great line
And what a dribble move by Kobe. There’s that open lane after all those jumpshots.
Strength & Honor
Sorry, but..............
MAMA THERE GOES THAT MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Don't I know you from somewhere"?. "Nah, that ain't me, I'm from Buffalo" - Axel Foley
Pau again got roasted defensively, but Boozer missed the easy shot.
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
A little D will go a long way here.
"Don't I know you from somewhere"?. "Nah, that ain't me, I'm from Buffalo" - Axel Foley
and friggin 1
"Don't I know you from somewhere"?. "Nah, that ain't me, I'm from Buffalo" - Axel Foley
The entire Jazz team is keyed in on Kobe
The open passes for easy, wide open shots by teammates should be there
Strength & Honor
It was a strange play, I can see how they could miss that one.
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
Kobe friggin Houdini tonight.......
"Don't I know you from somewhere"?. "Nah, that ain't me, I'm from Buffalo" - Axel Foley
Millsap outfights Lamar for the rebound, ends up getting fouled on the second chance in the paint...
He’s having a nice game.
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
Odom got the cheap call that time. Last time was pretty obviously a foul, that one not so much...
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
Win a championship...
…and Jerry Buss will keep him around.
If he wants to retire a Laker, the best way to do that is to bring it like he’s never brought it before in these playoffs. Especially in June.
Strength & Honor
I'm not thrilled that Kobe is already out
He’s hot, nobody is more poised to throw the defense completely off balance… and he’s on the bench?
Strength & Honor
yes or no?
Kobe will stay hot when he comes off the bench.
Kobe is one of the only players I have ever seen that seems to not be affected by a rest on the bench.
He usually comes back ready to go immediately.
"Don't I know you from somewhere"?. "Nah, that ain't me, I'm from Buffalo" - Axel Foley
Kobe looks a lot like MJ
when Deron tries to guard him he gives him that look like “youu can’t stop me” and just owns. Whenever he does that I remember Michael doing that to people that tried to guard him.
2 wins down.... 14 more to go
Finish the quarter strong and it's probably over.
Probably
"Don't I know you from somewhere"?. "Nah, that ain't me, I'm from Buffalo" - Axel Foley
Who was that in the Walton jersey??
"Don't I know you from somewhere"?. "Nah, that ain't me, I'm from Buffalo" - Axel Foley
Damn UPS truck got a flat.
"Don't I know you from somewhere"?. "Nah, that ain't me, I'm from Buffalo" - Axel Foley
Everything clicking for us right now.
Need to keep it going, go for 30.
The one thing I hate most about European soccer is that when they get a lead, even a 1-goal lead, they stop attacking, and just try to defend that lead.
We need to not do that. Attack, try and increase the lead.
Strength & Honor
It's kind of funny
That’s exactly how I’d describe the Laker offense. Sasha and Pau rub off on the team?

Actually the Kings teams from earlier this decade were similar
Went up big, sat on it. Lots of Euros on that team too.

Yeah that was good defense. I still dont get why Brown or Kobe wasn’t on Deron in game 3 instead of Fisher.
Agreed.
Should have been Brown or Kobe on D-Wil, Bynum or a double team on Boozer, and looking for the two-man game. Sorry Phil, but that was terrible coaching on the final play of the game.

Korver stuffs the long bomb attempt by Operaman... That HAD to hurt...
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
I meant Korver catching an 80 mph ball from point blank range...
……………………………. It’s pretty obvious that Sasha’s feelings can’t be hurt given the girlieman hairdo he sports…
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
That is completely uncalled for.............
and friggin hilarious.
"Don't I know you from somewhere"?. "Nah, that ain't me, I'm from Buffalo" - Axel Foley
Odom has been big tonight
Will his move to starter be permanent? or is it because he matches up better?
White Flag?
Nancy the Sideline reporter: “Kobe is having a ridiculous offensive night tonight — how do you stop him?”
Sloan: “You don’t stop him. We never have been able to stop him since I’ve been here…”
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
No, he just understands basketball
That’s not giving up, that’s just speaking truth
Strength & Honor
Great points by the commentating crew
No name kid comes to LA, thought of as a throw in… Kobe says shoot, Phil Jackson says get your mojo back. How can that not pump you up?
Strength & Honor
Hi, I'm Shannon Brown and I am making a fortune this postseason.
"Don't I know you from somewhere"?. "Nah, that ain't me, I'm from Buffalo" - Axel Foley
Not really.. Shannon has already said that he’d love to stay in L.A. and he really feels at home here, more so then any other team he’s played for.
He seems really made for the system. But it is a business and they've gotta be bumping tax hell already, yes?
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
Operaman for 3333333333333333
"Don't I know you from somewhere"?. "Nah, that ain't me, I'm from Buffalo" - Axel Foley
I know
But if you’re the NBA, I mean, aren’t there tons of other plays you could choose from that aren’t traveling?
Of the “Where will amazing happen this year?” ads, the LBJ one and BOTH of the Wade ones I’ve seen are blatant, 3-step traveling.
Strength & Honor
I was just marveling how high he got on that commercial there -- head just about hit the rim...
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
Whoa sweet, a Chick Hearn jersey

Kobe with his 36.
Announcer: “There hasn’t been one smile on his face for one millisecond tonight — killer instinct here tonight.”
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
I think it was more to psych them out
than to do anything with our guys
Like calling timeout in volleyball when a server is killing you. Break the serve.
Strength & Honor
Alright I've wanted to say this for a while
what the hell kind of name is Shannon
2 wins down.... 14 more to go
Kobe = proof that in the NBA, great defense can not stop great offense
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
Oh dear god, what a disaster that was
You could see that coming as soon as they couldn’t figure out who should take it out…
Strength & Honor
When Kobe is like this, you had better have Lebron on your team doing the same thing to stay even...
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
Or you better hope that the rest of the whole team gets injured
and the Lakers have to forfeit
2 wins down.... 14 more to go
Boozer very nearly set an NBA record with 2 airballed FTs in one night...
Pontiff of the Pryz for Prez Posse...
God they are ALL OVER Kobe
If that were a Jazz player, you know there would be more whistles
Strength & Honor
He should get more touches to set up the offense because others would get wide open looks annd ensure easy shots
Props to the random, isolated Lakers fans in the crowd
Takes balls to come all decked out in purple and gold in the middle of this crowd.
Strength & Honor
A much better game tonight
Post-game thread will be up soon, you can stop by there to give your Game 4 analysis
Strength & Honor
Lamar sounded weird in his post game interview
Mumbling a lot.
