This is a cool convo JA Adande had with Phil Jackson on TrueHoop
The most telling statement was made just outside the Laker locker room, where Phil Jackson stood outside waiting for an electric cart to drive him down the tunnel and to his car. I told him Kobe’s shot showed why I’d take Bryant over anyone in the final seconds, even the guy who used to wear No. 23. That caused Jackson to raise his eyebrows. Now maybe with six seconds left, enough time to create a good look, I’d go with Jordan. But with only enough time to take a dribble or two, or to catch and fire, I’d go with the best bad shot-maker ever. Because even when it’s a bad shot, Kobe gives you a good shot at winning.
Jackson processed it all, then said two words that resonated as much as Bryant’s three-pointer: "I agree."
Thanks for that ESPN360 link...
I had to work late last night and was listening to League Pass radio. I shut it off and went home with the Lakers down 4 with about 20 seconds to play or something.
Silly me.

Went to the game last night thanks to pslakerfan
and what a game. Staples was rocking hard after that shot. No one was immediately leaving the seats and every was going nuts. There were actually a few people that left before Fish’s 3, suckers. I swore the place was jumping more than it did after Ariza’s steal in the WCF game 1.
It was a weird game. Everyone was expecting a Kobe Wade showdown but the first half and especially the first quarter didn’t live up to the billing. 4th quarter made up for it big time. Best game of the year by far.
When I was driving home I was listening to post game talk on 710 and they said that this was no doubt one of Kobe’s top 10 shots. Now I know Kobe has hit many many many clutch shots but has he ever really had a buzzer beater in a key playoff game? I don’t think so. With all the glorious Kobe shots he is still missing THE SHOT. Jordan has Elo, Magic has the mini sky hook, Kareem has every sky hook he ever took, Horry has WCF game 6, Fish has .4 and game 4 last year. Kobe doesn’t have that, he does have a ton of buzzer beaters and great regular season game ending shots along with two of the all time great games in NBA history along with a ton of clutch playoff games (I’m talking complete games, not just game winning shot). I realize I’m kind of rambling now but I hope at some point before Kobe’s career he gets that playoff shot.
Also, the whole Lamar O’neal thing kinda got pushed aside with the Kobe shot but screw O’neal trying to tea bag Lamar. Glad Lamar stood up to him, And another thing, why does Lamar always hurt our own players?
Well I’m going to meet Bynum at an autograph signing at Upper Deck today so I’ll let you guys know if anything cool happens there.

JO should have goten a T for hanging and waiting.
Isn’t that what the T is for? To stop incidents like that? Blame that on the refs for letting that happen. It was the 2nd time in a few possessions that a Heat player (JO both times?) hung on the rim.
I wish I was there. It’s party time after a win like that. No wonder why everyone hung around. It;s a good thing PJ saves timeouts.
LO was completely overreacting
No they are allowed to hang to protect themselves or people underneath them. If he didn’t hang he would have crashed into Odom much harder and both would have took a tumble.
No.
JO hung on the rim, turned, pulled up his legs to tea bag LO. There’s a difference between waiting on the rim to avoid a player, and waiting for the player to taunt him.
JO baited LO. LO took the bait. I just wonder if JO realized this and did it for reason?
Game 4 2006 Phoenix Suns
Not one, but two buzzer beaters.
Nice
For some reason that one slipped my mind but that is one of Kobe’s nicer shots. Sasha muggs him like a little school girl right after. The only that sucks about that shot was that we gave the Suns the series after that shot.

how about the shot that he hit against Portland
which gave the Lakers the division title and even Ruben Patterson asked for Kobe’s game shoes and asked him to autograph them.

Ok I stand corrected haha
Kobe has a few good playoff shots. But I’m still waiting for the big tamale. The one that will go down in history forever. The one that will be remembered more than 81. Maybe this, against the Celtics, game 7 Finals, 3 seconds to go, down by 2, drive to the basket, emphatic jam, and 1, game over. I can dream right?

I don't know if my ticker
could handle a situation like you described. ha ha… but I know what you mean. A defining shot! He will have one. trust me.

Awesome. Glad to hear you went to the game.
For the record I was at the game against Phoenix in 2006 playoffs. Best. Game. Finish. Ever.
I am doing well. I haven’t gone to ANY games yet this year, but I am going tomorrow night against Phoenix. (Seems I have a thing about seeing Phoenix?) Yeah, let me know about Knicks game either here or send me an e-mail.
Billy Mac: "Lamar, can you see yourself actually getting in the (boxing) ring"?
Lamar Odom: "No. My face is too pretty."

Game 2 2004 NBA Finals shot to go to OT
Forgotten because the team forgot to show up to the rest of the finals.
Plus you have to consider that half of Fish’s big game winning shots were because he was wide open because there was two guys on Kobe.
I really don’t think I need that shot from Kobe, but I sure as hell won’t be surprised when it happens. Of coarse I wouldn’t be surprised if they won every game of the 2009 NBA finals by 10 points making that type of shot irrelevant as well.
That Phx game was a good one
I remember being so happy thinking we had the series in the bag. Nice, you should have fun tomorrow night. Suns are doing a lot better this year.
As for the Knicks game, I wanted to go to the Knicks because I remembered it was a good game at Staples the year before, never seen the Knicks and figured you would want to get rid of the Knicks tickets haha. Anyways, I’m listening to 710 Espn and they have a thing were you can call in during a certain time and if you’re the 24th caller you get to go to this Kobe doin work release interview with him and Spike after the game. I never call in to the radio but I’m thinking I should try once since I’m going to the game already. The cue to call happens the next day when I’m driving to work so I call and bam, I win. So anyways, long story short, after the Knicks game, me and about 75 or so other people get to go into the screening room at Espn Zone and listen to this interview while Kobe and Spike are all but maybe 20 feet away. Anyways, I thought it was pretty cool and definitely made the Knicks game cool.
Have fun tomorrow…GO LAKERS

Wondahbap....
Since you explained the “movie reference” aspect of your titles I crack up each time. “I am Legend”……classic.
Billy Mac: "Lamar, can you see yourself actually getting in the (boxing) ring"?
Lamar Odom: "No. My face is too pretty."
I like this quote from Lamar on Kobe
"It was funny because the television is delay, so on the last in-bound play, I actually heard the crowd go crazy and I said to myself, ‘Oh he [Kobe] did it again,’ It was incredible, unreal. It’s his patience and his ability not to rush but do it quick and get the shot off that’s unreal. But you expect it from him, which is unfair but kind of how he likes it. He’s so good that he spoils you with his greatness."
