What is up with the Laker bench?

I've tried to stay patient, but enough is enough. The Laker bench is lacking the spark that it had last year at the end of the season and in the playoffs. And most of that spark came from Shannon Brown. Where has it gone? Does something need to be shaken up or changed? Ive riddled my mind with possibilities and here they are in no particular order. Please comment on them or add any that you wish.

I think the lack of production right now could stem from the absense of Luke Walton. I know he doesnt put up huge numbers, but the man was our facilitator in the triangle with the second group. He basically was the pg with the second group with the passes and cuts and control of the triangle. He has a very high basketball IQ. Do you think the bench will get out of this funk once he comes back? Or am I just having high hopes.

The problem right now is that nobody off of our bench can hit a 3 pointer at a decent percentage, score at a constant rate or bring energy to the game. What if the Lakers packaged Adam Morrison's expiring contract with Jordan Farmar (who I have been totally unipressed with in his growth in the triangle) and traded them to the Knicks for Nate Robinson and cash or a draft pick. Robinson plays with energy all the time and can definently score. And I think the change of scenery would help to play defense as well. Its amazing what happens when a player goes from a terrible team to a contender. I mean, look at Pau.

I have been impressed with Bayless up in Portland, but I dont see any way we can get him, especially since we are in the same conference. Not to mention they need every body they can get with all the injuries they are dealing with. Does anybody see anyway we can get him? Is there any other players you see that could help our bench out?

We do have an extra roster spot at the moment, and could possibly sign someone currently not on a league roster for the league minimum. What about Jerry Stackhouse or Desmond Mason. Yes, Stackhouse is in his later years, but from what I remember he was deadly when shooting the corner 3. And Mason has to have somethign left in the tank. He could help with the bench depth. He was a pretty decent shooter who liked to slash and cut. He could possibly help, especially for the league minimum.

I just read a post that got me thinking. What if Jackson tweaked the lineups a litle bit. Mbenga to the starting lineup. I know the man isnt a real offensive threat, but why do we need all of our offense on the floor to start the game. You already have Kobe & Gasol on the floor. I particularly dont think that Bynum and Gasol play that well together. You could also throw Brown in the starting lineup to get him some more experience with the triangle and Fisher would strenghten the bench by making sure the triangle is run correctly. I do like Brown coming off of the bench though, just because of his energy that he can spark us with. So your starters would be Brown or Fisher, Kobe, Artest, Gasol & Mbenga. Your bench would consist of Fisher or Brown, Odom, Bynum and the usual bench players.  I think that would help Bynum and Pau both get the touches they want. You run the offense through Gasol with the starters and Bynum with the bench. And Kobe takes his shots whenever we need him to.

Any other thoughts on ways to strengthen our bench, or do we just need to wait it out and let them tey to get out o fthis funk. I think a change could spark something though.
