Side-Effects of Artest Injury : (
As if the last day and a half couldn't get much worse Ron Artest has now suffered injuries to his head and elbow by tripping and falling downstairs at his home. He will be missing tonight's road game against Tyreke Evans and the Kings and is out indefinitely after that. But when you look at the Lakers schedule, you see that until we play Orlando on Monday the eighteenth, we play a few strong teams including the Mavericks, Spurs, and Rockets, but no team that we probably couldn't handle without trying. If his injuries last even longer than that we unfortunately have to take on the Cavaliers and Celtics(who's star players consist of LeBron James and Paul Pierce, two great offensive players that Ron-Ron would normally have the responsibility of guarding : ( ) in addition to the Magic. Another thing is, without Ron-Ron, with Luke Walton out with a back injury, and with an incredibly weak-of-late bench, how should Phil Jackson alter the lineup?

Option 6
We need somebody who can spark our bench. And with the injuries happening, it shows that we really need somebody on that bench who is reliable. And fast…
On a side note: Man I miss the “Machine” :(

"Wax on, wax off..."
start odom at small forward
he is basically a starting caliber player
he just needs to be consistent
"Just by the aura of D.J. Mbenga being there, the shot missed."
They started Odom at small forward against Sac.

In the meantime, he should call me Dr. Shaq because I’m working on my PhD." (Referring to 17-year-old rookie Andrew Bynum, who compared himself to Shaq…except that he can make free throws.)

Is anybody else curious as to what actually happened to Ron Artest?
Seriously, I don’t ever fall down the stairs in my own home, and I’m not a professional athlete trained to react to split-second missteps. I find it pretty hard to believe that Artest would just slip and tumble down the stairs and get a concussion. It sounds like something a grandfather would do, not a highly trained athlete.
Still, as a friend put it, he wouldn’t put anything past Ron-Ron.
bynum off the bench...
i think thats a great idea…. maybe we need to light a fire under the guy..

Lakers need to make trades but
I think Phil will tinker with a few lineups until Artest is fulling back, lets see what the rest of the team is made of
There are basic Fundamentals that are needed to move forward in this game. Always keep your guard up at all times to avoid being caught in a trap. Overcome the fouls that will be commited against you REBOUND AND PRESS ON. ADJUST to the LimeLight: ALL-STAR PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS THE CENTER OF ATTENTION. Know what your role is and play your position. Find a game plan and execute it. REMEMBER YOU ONLY GET OUT OF THE GAME WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT.
sign for the league minimum.....
jerry stackhouse or desmond mason. or throw mbenga into the starting lineup. let bynum get his touches with the second group.
LO at the SF has been pretty clumsy as of late
If artest is out again tonight, maybe we shift kobe to the 3 and start sasha at the 2. now, before anyone thinks i just had a brain fart by suggesting starting sasha, i’d like to clarify that by “starting”, i don’t necessarily mean play the most minutes. i mean, sasha’s been playing significant minutes since artest’s injury, so you’ll be seeing him playing anyways. We all know that the only place sasha can be remotely useful is when he gets wide open shots, which he will be able to see more of with the starting unit (since kobe, pau & drew will likely be able to draw constant double teams) as compared to the second unit.
