Artest says "I used to drink Hennessy … at halftime,"

Ron Artest admitted that he was a 'head case' when he broke into the NBA with the Bulls.

Do you ever get the feeling like when someone is saying something you don't really know how to react?  You don't know whether to laugh or be serious because the comments are both funny and sad at the same time.  A perfect example of that at times is when Charles Barkley speaks.  His comments are funny but sometimes so wrong.  That is exactly how I feel when Artest speaks.  Deep down you think to yourself, "he means well" but at the same time you might think, "dude just be quiet and play ball".  But, he is a Laker and I love him for that.  Here is a bit of the intro to the article.  You can read the rest by clicking on the link.

Ron Artest, the 30-year-old, first-year starter with the Los Angeles Lakers, may yet prove to be a crucial piece of an improved championship puzzle.

But those who are counting on one of the league's most explosive personalities to avoid controversy with his fifth NBA team may want to temper their expectations.

In a lengthy interview for the December 7 issue of Sporting News magazine, Artest—best known as the central figure in the infamous Malice at the Palace in 2004—bared all, including a startling admission that he drank alcohol during games as a member of the Chicago Bulls, for whom he played from 1999-2002.

"I used to drink Hennessy … at halftime," Artest says in the interview, which hits newsstands this week. "I (kept it) in my locker. I'd just walk to the liquor store (near the stadium) and get it."

Artest speaks openly in the interview on many other sensitive topics.

My favorite quotes:
The only thing I could have done was have God pause time so I could have said, ‘Oh, look, you’re about to run in some stands, so stop.’"
On his feelings toward Ben Wallace, the Pistons center whose altercation with Artest touched off the melee in Detroit: “I see Ben, I’m on my guard now. I’m always in the mood to fight him. … I’ll get suspended 10 games, 15 games (because) I’ll just fight him right there. It won’t go into the stands.”

I think smashing the Suns made me realize how far Kobe and the Lakers have come from five years ago, when the Suns had the world at their feet.

He's bad ass,

Someone should get the UFC involved once these two retire, or after we win the championship.
i would pay to watch that.

lol….what is up with athletes feeling the need to bring up all this stuff no one would ever find out. first andre agassi, and now ron ron. Kudos for trying to empty the ghosts in your closest, but I have a feeling artest didnt do it for those reasons, just to make headlines.

its times like these i regret signing him over ariza. Just keep your mouth shut and play ball artest

Did someone delete my comment here.......

Or am I just losing my mind. It wasn’t THAT bad was it?

Billy Mac: "Lamar, can you see yourself actually getting in the (boxing) ring"?
Lamar Odom: "No. My face is too pretty."

See, now that's the kind of comment that I can respect.

Subtle shot to the ribs…….nice. Some people around here (rhymes with Craig) just don’t have a sense of humor.

I still want to know if I got deleted or if I am losing my mind. I swear I don’t know. I guess I could just repeat the comment and see if it gets deleted or not.

Billy Mac: "Lamar, can you see yourself actually getting in the (boxing) ring"?
Lamar Odom: "No. My face is too pretty."

Really?

I would love to know why. I mean I know why, but that seems WAY, WAY, short of the line of what should and shouldn’t be deleted. Is it the word I used, or simply the implication?

Billy Mac: "Lamar, can you see yourself actually getting in the (boxing) ring"?
Lamar Odom: "No. My face is too pretty."

Let me put it another way.

I have seen a lot worse here without even a warning.

Lamar Odom: "No. My face is too pretty."

In light of the team's final trip up north for the season. I thought we go down memory lane to look back at a classic game against the Warriors in Oakland. The day was April 20, 1999, yes the day of Columbine Massacre. Also, has anyone noticed that we have had a lot of classic games against the Warriors even though we have always assembled better teams than they did.?

Heres a new mix I made.

Kobe hasnt always been known as a clutch player. In game 5 of the 1997 Eastern Conference Semifinals, he missed a shot to win the game in the 4th quarter and 2 three-pointers to tie the game in the last minute of overtime, all of the shots being airballs. With that the Utah Jazz ended the playoffs for the Lakers in the 2nd round. Shaquille O'Neal commented years later that "Kobe was the only guy who had the guts at the time to take shots like that."

Ever since that horrible experience in his rookie year, Kobe has worked harder and has learned how to make those shots with the game on the line. This vid features some lines from Carmelo Anthony's Become Legendary commercial as well as some of Kobe's recent gamewinners.

Enjoy!
Kobe Game Winner vs Raptors - Whoa, I watched this and then I read the comments on Youtube claiming Kobe travelled, which I had not heard of. Then, after watching a few times, I have to say, I agree, Kobe changes his pivot foot before putting the ball down on the floor. I also think there's no way a ref catches that in real time, and even if they do, they can't be sure enough to call it then, either.
