Ariza Gets Kicked Out of Game for Throwing Elbow
"Even odds, Trevor Ariza gets ejected from a game before Ron Artest does"
If I had given you this bet before the season started would you take it? Of course you would.
But just last night, Trevor Ariza was booted from the Rocket-Raptors game for throwing an elbow at DeMar Derozan. It was following a steal by DeRozan, and Ariza threw a chicken wing at the back of his head. He missed, but the refs caught it and ejected Ariza. Ariza was obviously frustrated, as he was 0-9 with one point at the time.
Now, this is not to pile on Ariza. I really, really like him as a player, and from what I read of him as a person.
This is more a defense of Ron Artest, and all the dimwits who see him as a troublemaker.
If Ron had done this last night, do you know how many "I told you so" type of posts and comments and columns we would have seen? About 2,142 of them, give or take a hundred.
So if you were one of those worried about Ron Artest based on his past, maybe you should comment down here and apologize for not realizing that Ariza would be the first to cause trouble. I know that the season is yet to be over, but Trevor has taken first blood, and he might even get a suspension.

haha sad to see Ariza let his emotions get the better of him, but hopefully itll serve as a message to the rest of the league.
If you leave the lakers, the game of basketball is gonna become alot harder for you when you dont have kobe and pau getting the most defensive attention and double teams

The problem for me has never been Artest’s past. It’s been that slight bias the refs tend to have against him when things get heated because of his past. I specifically remember an instance when Artest received a tech for trying to BREAK UP a fight in Houston. I don’t think there’s any conspiracy, but I feel like officials do think back to that day when things got really out of hand. After all, it is part of their responsibility to make sure things don’t end up that way.
It’s his reputation that may end up hurting the Lakers more than he actually will.

After seeing that, I lost some respect for Ariza.

Trev got a 1 game suspension for that elbow.
Houston Rockets forward Trevor Ariza(notes) says he received a one-game suspension after he was ejected from a game in Toronto for throwing a forearm at Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan(notes).
Ariza said Monday that he’ll have to sit out Tuesday’s game against Detroit. NBA spokesman Tim Frank would not immediately confirm the suspension, saying that "no decision has been made."

Does anyone have a link to a video of Ariza throwing the elbow?

wow!
that could have become a really bad incident. That is so unexpected because Ariza doesn’t seem like the type of player to do that. It seemed that it was more fustration rather than anything that derozan did. thnx for the link. I was so curious about that.

I love TA and all
but he’s got a bit of a temper problem. It hasn’t gotten him into trouble last year, but I noticed it. Like when he was angry with Sasha for shooting instead of passing. When he and Hedo argued they looked like they were headbutting each other, etc.
Love that he’s playing with aggression, but he shouldn’t have let his frustration get the best of him. I remember in that 5th game against Orlando, he was shooting poorly too, but he kept his cool and hit all his threes after the break. He’s got to remember that. Throwing the elbow was bad and I hope he’s disappointed in himself for letting his anger and frustration get the best of him.

Play the game of which Lakers reminds you of: TA - TI, Shannon Brown - Chris Brown, Pau Gasol - Jesus, Machine - Luis Scola/Russell Brand, PJ with mustache and beard - Colonel Sanders.
