Lakers-Timberwolves Open Thread
Minnesota Timberwolves at Los Angeles Lakers, Dec 11, 2009 7:30 PM PST
Lamar Odom gets the thread pic and all associated mojo tonight. Make the most of your time, Lamar! You're likely to get off work early in favor of the Taco Unit.
Your drinking-game triggers for this one include any mention of the following.
- Ricky Rubio.
- Kevin Love and/or Ryan Hollins having played at UCLA.
- Al Jefferson being "underrated."
- The six-point fourth quarter.
- Tiger Woods.
It's Friday night, my peoples, so crack a bottle. The Lakers are favored by 16.

Favored by 16?
I’d take the wolves on that bet. Either this game is close and the Lakers win by about 10 late in the 4th, or its a blowout and the taco unit lets the wolves chisel the lead down to about 10 :)

Yeah I agree either one is possible
but Lakers should win easily and let the bench figure things out at the end

I have actually kept pretty close track of the odds for the Lakers at home.
They tend to not cover the spread against bad teams (big odds) and beat the spread against good teams.

Well to be honest that tendency was mostly last season.
This season they are doing better against the bad teams.

I would say giving away tacos that cost about 10 cents to make.....
and then selling a coke for $1.75 that costs about 10 cents, makes it a pretty good deal for them. At least that’s the idea.

From Wikipedia
An avulsion fracture is a bone fracture which occurs when a fragment of bone tears away from the main mass of bone as a result of physical trauma. This can occur at the ligament due to the application forces external to the body (such as a fall or pull) or at the tendon due to a muscular contraction that is stronger than the forces holding the bone together. Generally muscular avulsion is prevented due to the neurological limitations placed on muscle contractions.
If the fracture is small, it is usually sufficient to treat with rest and support bandage, but in more severe cases surgery may be required. Ice may be used to relieve swelling.

Shannon's averages outstrip him
In practically every shooting category, especially from three. Plus, Brown came into the league with a rep as a shooter; he’s simply fulfilling what was already there.
Sessions has indicated fairly strongly that he can’t shoot; not that he can’t improve, but for our immediate needs, that’s not changing quickly.

Don’t argue with him. His main argument is always that he’s “watched” the player more so than the person he’s arguing with. Before Oden went down with an injury, he told me that Oden was not getting into foul trouble, instead arguing that Nate preferred Pryz over Oden, which is why Greg wasn’t playing many minutes.
Then when I showed him the game logs which showed Oden was constantly in foul trouble – no response from him.

I’ve already seen it and I have no problem with it because sometimes the things people say on this website are outlandish and aren’t backed up by any specific examples or analysis. Calling someone out when they’re talking out of their ass, I have no problem with. That’s just me though. I dont speak for the whole website and tell others what to do, but I have no problem when someone calls someone else out when they’re obviously wrong. I wouldn’t mind if someone told me I was wrong either.
Thats just a difference of opinion between you and me. I’ve already noticed he does these things, but he wouldn’t be inclined to do so if people didn’t say things that are obviously not true.
If you ignored him for a “few weeks now” maybe you should just continue to ignore him for the whole duration of the time you spend on this website.
Instead of telling Ben to stop doing commenting in the manner he comments in, maybe you should be the one to just ignore and stop reading his comments.

For me, after hashing something out I no longer feel the need to take shots at that person whenever he posts something unrelated to your argument. But that’s just me.
In any case, I have no interest in being the next Zaig for you to tee off on so this is my last word here on the issue. Glad I could help you see that your behavior has, at times, been worse than what you’ve criticized. Last word is yours.

They had something on NBA TV highlighting him during his rookie year… He’s really quite charming…

Pavlovic is a 35.7% career FT shooter
And is shooting 27.3% from the line tonight. Not that surprising in that context.

Anyone with a FT% worse than Ben Wallace’s (42.0% career shooter) is just amazingly awful.

Good game Lakers
Watched LeBron play tonight too. He shot the most brikcish fall away in the last minutes of the game. Then came back with one of the nastiest blocks I’ve ever seen. FON… freak of nature.
Still doesn’t have game like Kobe though :P
