ESPN’s Chris Sheridan strongly believes that Jamaal Tinsley would be an ideal addition for our point guard situation. Now, if you want my opinion, the issue is that he’s a really streaky shooter from the three-point line, but he’s big for a point guard and can really throw nice dimes. In reference to the headcase/malaise issues, they’re overblown; Tinsley was on the same Indy team with Artest and that entire situation was horribly dysfunctional, hence Bird’s insistence on adding character guys to fill the roster. Probably won’t happen, but it’s an interesting thought, especially given that at this point, there would be no financial issues seeing as he would sign for the minimum and the league would cover most of the salary.

hell yeah I would do this
It’s kind of hard for me to still consider that Artest is a risk. He isn’t more of risk than Sheed is. But back to your link. I would completely do this. The key is what you said about him willing to sign for the minimum. But, I also think that if the Pacers told him to not show up to the games until they traded him if that was just to avoid him being a distraction or if he was really a locker room cancer.

Jamaal Tinsley isn't a bad defender either......when focuses. I would much rather trade for
Chris Duhon than sign Tinsley. I would feel much more comfortable with Duhon running the show. Plus, isn’t Tinsley a little bit injury-prone?
Duhon isn't a bad choice
And Walsh might be tempted by taking an uptempo-friendly guard in Farmar in return. He was a solid defender in Chicago and shot the lights out last year in New York. The only problem was that the Knicks ran him into the ground with way more minutes than he could handle. According to ESPN’s rumor section (which is questionable but interesting nonetheless) D’Antoni is currently upset with Duhon’s effort level, but I have to believe that Walsh isn’t losing any assets unless he can send Jeffries or Curry along with them, and we’re definitely not taking on Jeffries by any means.

Farmer is better than Duhon
And younger and way less expensive. Duhon is completely shot at this point. D’Antoni has bled him dry, and he wasn’t that good to begin with.

Meh
Duhon can do two things we need from a point guard right now: defend and hit threes. His play will perk noticeably up once 1) he’s not playing 40 minutes a night 2) he’s playing on a championship team 3) he’s not in the apparent no-D, me-first culture of New York due to all the people with expiring contracts trying to get their due.
Farmar, frankly, hasn’t indicated by any measure that he’s going to demonstrate his ‘07-’08 potential yet (granted, it’s still early), and if he’s not going to show he’s a long-term asset, he’s better off dealt. And besides, a Farmar + Morrison for Duhon trade would break roughly even financially.
That said, I wouldn’t be completely crazy about it if it happened though. The change is marginal, but it’s a nice way to look at a problem area at the moment, seeing how desperate Phil is to decrease Fisher’s minutes.

I bet that deal's there if Kupchak wants it.
There’s no love for Duhon in NYC right now, all three contracts (his, Farmar’s and Morrison’s) expire after this year, and at least the Knicks would have Farmar’s RFA rights next offseason. I’m not at all sold on Duhon’s defense, though. I’d much rather take a chance on Tinsley. Not sold on him either, but at least he doesn’t cost you anything. If he sucks, you just cut him and move on with your normal rotation.
More than anything, I’m not sure there’s any need to make a move at all. Farmar and Brown have been reasonably capable this year, and when the team is at full strength we could even see Kobe at the point at times in a mega-lineup of him, Artest, Odom, Gasol and Bynum. There are a lot of internal options to work through before worrying about marginal outside additions.

*Shrug*
Pretty much every proposed deal for the point guard spot with the exception of Hinrich is largely marginal; it’s simply a question of how much that difference in production means in the long run. If Farmar blows up against Phoenix, then we’ll all shut up for a few games, but so long as Fisher plays 30 minutes a game due to the inconsistency of the people behind him, we’ll keep on talking about this.
And thanks to whoever cleaned up the mess.

very ineteresting stuff!
If Mitch thinks he’s willing to give it all for a ring this year, this could be a key missing piece that we need.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

He's the ideal guard for the triangle that may be available
But Chicago’s playoff hopes would all but evaporate without him. He solidifies their guard rotation, and between Rose and Salmons, provides a consistent defender at either one of the backcourt positions. It makes sense as far as cap space goes, as Chicago gets a lot more money to throw at Wade, Bosh, and co. but I doubt he’s moved.

thnx for this post
I really hope that Rambis does well. I hope that the trianlge works out for him. Personally I would have liked to see Rambis as the Lakers’ next coach.
