These are the storylines the league office loathes: the disgruntled star wrangling with management, reinforcing stereotypes that remotely reflect the reality of most of the NBA’s rank and file. Nevertheless, Jackson and Iverson transformed the sluggish October and November news cycle into personal platforms for foolery. For the NBA, it’s a shame. Yet commissioner David Stern has no one to blame but too many clueless, lost owners and franchises which enable, even encourage, such behavior.

The Kamenetzky Brothers are funny
Taking the groin by the horns in ’round the clock fashion led to a “long night,” but the results will hopefully speak for themselves, even if occasionally voiced through gritted teeth.

I don't think I've ever taken my groin by the horns
I think it would hurt

Tony Gaffney just might return due to the rash of injuries.
Walton Out? L.A. Lakers’ forward Luke Walton has a pinched nerve in his back and could miss up to six weeks as he recovers. The Lakers should get Pau Gasol back this week, but the team is very thin, especially in the front court. The Lakers are considering their options and one of them maybe the return of camp invite Tony Gaffney.
Gaffney is currently playing in Israel for Hapoel Gilboa Galil Elyon. Upon his release at the start of the season the Lakers (and Clippers) had inquired about Tony’s buyout options and left the door open to a return should a major injury hit.
The Lakers wanted to hang on to Tony, they liked his game a lot, but could not justify paying Luxury Tax on a player that may not see the floor if the squad was healthy.
The Lakers are expected to look at free agents, but with a $50,000 contract buyout and a familiarity with the system and the players Gaffney may be the cheaper option for the Lakers as Walton nurses his injury.
Hell yeah!
I was a huge fan of this kid and hated to see him released. This would be great.
I think smashing the Suns made me realize how far Kobe and the Lakers have come from five years ago, when the Suns had the world at their feet.

Insider only
But Sheridan lists the best available free agents. At the top of the list is Jerry Stackhouse, who is quoted that he would loveto play with the Lakers. Honestly, an old Stackhouse is probably better than every backup in our backcourt besides Brown, but it’s something to look at.

To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.
Stackhouse would be a good option, though he would be more expensive than Gaffney or
some other player based on years in the league.
With the vet's minimum though
The league pays most of the salary. Little known tidbit.
To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.
For a player of 10+ years
$1,306,455 would be the minimum, and the league would cover $480,957, assuming the percentages are still the same from ‘05-’06. It would be roughly correct in any case.
To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.
Depends a lot
On what the Israeli team wants for a buyout. Still though, the difference is probably pretty negligible.

Wondahbap, do you have the list of the other players? thnx.
I think the talent that Stackhouse brings would still make the signing better than getting a cheaper gaffney.
I’ll tell you one thing, I don’t want Iverson on the Lakers. He isn’t humbling himself for no one.

are you able to type in the list of the other players listed? I’m curious as to who they are.

Sure
Jerry Stackhouse, Wally Szczerbiak, Gerald Green, Rashad McCants, Michael Sweetney, Stephon Marbury, Mike Harris, Jake Voskuhl, and a random list of associated talent (i.e. Robert Swift, Gabe Pruitt, etc.) at the end.

Swift is pretty awful on both ends
He doesn’t bring anything that Mbenga doesn’t. Our frontcourt isn’t something I’m overly worried about.
