The parade of awesome injury news continues. The diagnosis for Luke is a pinched nerve in his back, which oddly enough is among the conditions that has tormented his father Bill in recent years.

Adam Morrison, it's time for your closeup.

Yeah I just came from the Lakers website and it seems if

its not one, its another and I hope Luke can return from this and not have continuous problems with this nerve.

There are basic Fundamentals that are needed to move forward in this game. Always keep your guard up at all times to avoid being caught in a trap. Overcome the fouls that will be commited against you REBOUND AND PRESS ON. ADJUST to the LimeLight: ALL-STAR PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS THE CENTER OF ATTENTION. Know what your role is and play your position. Find a game plan and execute it. REMEMBER YOU ONLY GET OUT OF THE GAME WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT.

Oof! That sucks. Big time. Adam Morrison is going to get abused when given extended

playing time. Artest will probably play heavy minutes, as will Kobe, who’s backups are healthy but ineffective. Saved for UPS, of course. Artest is no stranger to injury either. Josh Powell could play spot minutes at the SF position, especially when Pau comes back.

Kobe is already injured too

This is killing our depth, and we didnt have that much depth to begin with

by desecrator09 on Nov 16, 2009 7:15 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Pau's return does help because of Josh Powell's versatility, now that he added the 3-pt

shot to his arsenal. I think if Pau doesn’t return this week, Mitch will probably have to sign a body. Maybe Mickael Gelabale?

Gaffney too.

I would love if they brought back both these guys, just cause I’m so sick of useless Sasha and Farmar.

damn im afraid...

This season, we are doomed to the same fate as the Cs last year. Thats why you hardly ever see teams repeat cuz the grind of the previous year to the Finals (or for us the previous TWO years) takes its toll unless that team was a relatively young team. We aint that much younger than the Cs so I wouldnt put us in that group. God, I hope I’m wrong….

by desecrator09 on Nov 16, 2009 7:15 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Maybe everyone just needs to get the injury bug early in the season

so they can be healthy late :)

or maybe the team is taking an effort to absorb drew’s bad karma this year by splitting them into a few minor injuries :)

This really hurts the second unit

IMO, the second unit is struggling because they do not pass the ball well enough. Farmar or Brown seem to dribble around the perimeter before either shooting or passing to a shooter. Very rarely does the second unit pass the ball more than two or three times before a shot. This is were Luke is a huge asset. Sure he may fire up one of his turn around baseline Js every once and a while but he is an extremely underrated passer who is very unselfish.

Hopefully Luke can get back sooner than later…

Well, here's a thought from left field...

The Blazers had 3 guards they wanted to play and only 1 SF who wasn’t injured, so they just slid 6’6" Brandon Roy to SF and played the 3 guards, bringing the SF off the bench.

Maybe the solution for the Lakers (other than the catastrophic non-solution of giving significant minutes to The Worst Player in the NBA) is to play Farmar at the 1, UPS at the 2, and move Kobe to the 3.

Kobe can rebound and defend. He might give up a little size on some nights, but that beats the hell out of extended minutes of the mustachioed catastrophe…

Alternatively, the Lakers still have open roster spots...

That means he's heading back soon though!

Or that he was a horrible actor. I dunno; I don’t watch the show.

Well, the only FA wing on the top of my head available...

Is Wally Szczerbiak, who I’m not horribly excited about, but at least he can shoot the ball, which is a lot more than our resident bench shooter can attest to.

I’m getting the feeling that Kupchak might start looking to make a move. The bench hasn’t proved itself, we’re not going to be 100% for a while, and we’re rapidly digging a hole.

My goodness
Those maturity and character questions Jennings faced throughout the draft process? We can put those to rest. Jennings was despondent that he couldn’t pull out a win for his teammates who worked so hard to help bring the Bucks back from an 18-point third quarter deficit.

I’m not sure too many rookies can score 25 points, grab seven rebounds and dish out eight assists and be so eager to take the blame for not making the right decision on their team’s last possession.

“Ersan’s [Illyasova] man had doubled me. When I looked back over the tape he was wide open for the jump shot. This is something I’m going to learn from. It’s a long season,” Jennings said.

The Bucks lose to a team in the upper echelon of the Western Conference by two in overtime, Jennings cranks up a line of 25/7/8 and he takes the loss all on himself? Watch out NBA, this kid is going to be awesome.

Also

How much are the Knicks kicking themselves right now? Granted, I won’t blame Walsh that much considering that Jennings really was an unknown to a lot of teams because he skipped the Eurocamp and his Italy performance wasn’t a whole lot to write home about, but this omission is really going to sting, especially if Milwaukee makes the playoffs (and with Redd coming back, this is, despite all predictions, possible).

I Hope the Lakers don't get this desperate..

I think smashing the Suns made me realize how far Kobe and the Lakers have come from five years ago, when the Suns had the world at their feet.

In light of the team's final trip up north for the season. I thought we go down memory lane to look back at a classic game against the Warriors in Oakland. The day was April 20, 1999, yes the day of Columbine Massacre. Also, has anyone noticed that we have had a lot of classic games against the Warriors even though we have always assembled better teams than they did.?

Heres a new mix I made.

Kobe hasnt always been known as a clutch player. In game 5 of the 1997 Eastern Conference Semifinals, he missed a shot to win the game in the 4th quarter and 2 three-pointers to tie the game in the last minute of overtime, all of the shots being airballs. With that the Utah Jazz ended the playoffs for the Lakers in the 2nd round. Shaquille O'Neal commented years later that "Kobe was the only guy who had the guts at the time to take shots like that."

Ever since that horrible experience in his rookie year, Kobe has worked harder and has learned how to make those shots with the game on the line. This vid features some lines from Carmelo Anthony's Become Legendary commercial as well as some of Kobe's recent gamewinners.

Enjoy!
Kobe Game Winner vs Raptors - Whoa, I watched this and then I read the comments on Youtube claiming Kobe travelled, which I had not heard of. Then, after watching a few times, I have to say, I agree, Kobe changes his pivot foot before putting the ball down on the floor. I also think there's no way a ref catches that in real time, and even if they do, they can't be sure enough to call it then, either.
