Dream Team squabbles

For an amazingly open look at the passing from one era to the next, see an excerpt from Magic's and Bird's book that was posted on ESPN:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=MagicBird-091111

Now, that's just epic. That said, if you ask me, the best team of all time was the '95-'96 Bulls (Jordan's comments in the excerpt are pretty prophetic), and the GOAT was Jordan.

Fire away.

Classic stuff

Magic was right about MJ not winning 5 titles… in a way.

This was great to read.

Player’s feed off of this. Now, think about Kobe and LeBron. LeBron wants everything Kobe has right now, and all he has is media love ad PER. Kobe has league respect and hardware. It’s why you see LeBron wearing his “Check my $tats” and “LBJ/MVP” shirts right after the Lakers Parade, and why Nike makes Kobe’s “4 Rings” tee shirts. These players want everyone to know who reigns.

I’m glad we have #24.

Pretty sure Lebron wants titles too

Here’s the problem. It sucks being the best and not winning due to circumstances outside of your control. In any aspect of life.

-You write a better paper than your classmate, but you get a worse grade because the teacher graded yours at the end of the night when he was tired. Your reaction? You’re pissed off and want it to be known that your paper was best.

-You get it in with AA and some moron calls with A9cc at the WSOP ME FT. You damn sure point out that you did all you did all you could to win.

-You have a 7-7 record as a pitcher and someone in the media calls you on it. You make damn sure to point out your 0.87ERA.

And so on. Maybe this Shaq thing will work, but when it likely doesn’t, it’s simply another example of the Cav management not being able to get Lebron a single top 10 player at their position to assist him.
Lakers suck for a couple years? No problem. Management grabs the 2nd best C/PF in the league for nothing. Cavs fail in the playoffs. Management grabs the best C of… 7 years ago.

Amen!
I’m glad we have #24.

There is something from Kobe that I haven’t seen from other players from the Redeem Team. Friends is one thing but in the playoffs/Finals that is another story. He has this swager that cannot be taught. He really got along with Melo and Howard but in the playoffs he let them know that it didn’t matter that they were friends. I can’t think of two other olympic team mates that have gone it like that. “It’s not showfriends its show business.”

Kobe on Shaq (2003) - "But this is his team, so it's time for him to act like it. That means no more coming into camp fat and out of shape, when your team is relying on your leadership on and off the court.....no more blaming others for our team's failure, or blaming staff members for not overdramatizing your injuries so that you avoid blame for your lack of conditioning. Also, "my team" doesn't mean only when we win; it means carrying the burden of defeat just as gracefully as you carry a championship trophy."

... okay...

Lebron and Howard are friends. They get along even outside of the Olympics. Come playoff time, how well did they get along? So well that Lebron even decided to not shake hands with his friend after the game.

Considering how often this is brought up by people here, you’d think this example would be easy to remember.

Considering how often you comment here...........

one would think you were lying about “being bored”…..

Billy Mac: "Lamar, can you see yourself actually getting in the (boxing) ring"?
Lamar Odom: "No. My face is too pretty."

Dude seriously. I am so tired of you and your man crush on me.

This post had ZERO to do with you and your comment contributed ZERO to this thread. Also, your ridiculous insults don’t even make any sense.

I ALREADY explained that nobody was on, there was nothing to post about, and I didn’t feel like talking to you, so I got bored and left. As in, at that moment I was bored. Obviously 5 days later there are new topics to discuss. And without fail, you instantly find me and start again with some off topic crap that has no basis in any reality except yours.

Actually it had everything to do with me Zaig.....

You see this is kinda my place here. At least more than it is yours….. You come in here all the time and take cheap shots at the Lakers, Laker fans, and anyone else you feel like taking cheap shots at. Sure you try to be subtle and sometimes you even succeed, but in reality they are just cheap shots. Some people don’t seem to realize it or care, and some of those people are even in control of this place. However I DO give a shit and I don’t appreciate it. So unless they ban YOU or ME as long as you keep it up, I will keep it up and I don’t give a shit if your snide comments and cheap shots are directed at me or not.

Let me give you an example/analogy. Let’s say you walk into a country western bar every day and start telling everyone how much you hate country music, how lame NASCAR is, and what hicks all of the patrons are. Maybe you will be ignored for a while, but eventually someone is going to come up and kick the shit out of you regardless of whether you have singled them out or not. Get it?

Point is if you want to contribute here positively (which sometimes you do) then go right ahead. If you notice (you probably don’t bother to) I don’t say anything to you when you are just commenting on something here, only when you are taking cheap shots (as in your comment above) and when you are generally being a douche (as in your “I am bored” comments).

Usually I just say something subtle and coy like you do but since you feel the need to be less subtle this time then so will I.

Bottom line…………..Be nice in my favorite establishment or…..

a) I will kick your ass. (on the computer of course, wouldn’t want to be called threatening)
b) I will get kicked out.
c) You will get kicked out.

I used to care which option is chosen, but I am starting to care less and less everyday.

P.S. My man crush is on Purple And Gold for Life………everyone knows this.

I'm not exactly sure how this site is your "establishment" or "place"

You’re not writing articles, editorials, or giving extensive thoughts on the current situation, nor are you moderating anything. Yes, you can be a “regular,” but that doesn’t entitle you to anything more than the familiarity of the people here and hopefully, a respect for your opinions.

Past that, I’m not exactly sure why that comment needed a snide remark in any case. It was pretty innocuous.

To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.

You don't know the story behind the comment.....

and I am not going to tell it to you. If you can figure it out then please comment away, otherwise you really don’t know what you are talking about.

For the record most of his comments are pretty “innocuous”. That’s why I said “subtle” cheap shots. One subtle cheap shot isn’t a big deal. Twenty or thirty is.

And if you can’t figure out how someone who has been commenting or contributing here on a daily basis since it started can consider this more “his place” than someone who shows up occasionally to start shit and take cheap shots at people then I don’t know how I can explain it to you.

I said it was “kinda” my place at least more than “his”. I didn’t say it WAS my establishment. He is welcome to comment here of course as am I, but as long as he keeps it up, so will I, whether you are aware of the whole story or not.

BTW.....

my original comment back to him was just as “innocuous” as his, but for some reason you don’t have a problem with his overzealous comment about me???

Billy Mac: "Lamar, can you see yourself actually getting in the (boxing) ring"?
Lamar Odom: "No. My face is too pretty."

Ben R,

thnx for posting this. I really enjoy reading that sort of behind the scenes stuff. I’m defenitely getting this book.

It's funny...

…this conversation sounds exactly like what I would imagine some ESPN writer or blogger would fabricate in this kind of situation…but it’s real!

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
