LeBron has a lot about him that's not about winning... LeBron is on stage every night, I have spent time around him and see the show that is put on for everyone... Dwight is starting to do that more and more too... I think that's the defense mechanism young guys use to deal with the intense spotlight... LeBron will out grow that, and in a few years I think he'll displace Kobe as the king of the hill... I just don't think he's there yet.

Bill Simmons' Book

In writing, I have been tought to always be fully aware of the opposition’s point of view. Simmons’ is the opposition and I would like to read his book. But, if the book is also devoted to race and the NBA I hope he talks about how the city of Boston would not let Russell eat with the team in restaurants and how he had to eat in the kitchen or in his hotel room. If that is the rich tradition that he loves his city for so much.

Kobe on Shaq (2003) - "But this is his team, so it's time for him to act like it. That means no more coming into camp fat and out of shape, when your team is relying on your leadership on and off the court.....no more blaming others for our team's failure, or blaming staff members for not overdramatizing your injuries so that you avoid blame for your lack of conditioning.
