so they listed amare as a center?
i suppose they needed at least one big name on it.

I’m surprised Kaman didn’t make the list for West centers.

Kaman
its really a joke that he is not on the list…
he is the best center in the West so far this season
and eric gordon… kid is averaging 20 PPG and ramon session t mac and AI made the list before he did… JOKE

Yeah, Kaman is averaging 20+ and10+
How could he not be on there?
Camby? Really?
Billy Mac: "Lamar, can you see yourself actually getting in the (boxing) ring"?
Lamar Odom: "No. My face is too pretty."

Chris Kaman's ranks in the Western Conference among centers......
Points 1st
Rebounds 5th
Blocks 4th
Efficiency 2nd (behind Bynum, yeah)
How is he not on the ballot?

Ballot was made
In the first week of October, and given that Camby was on a tear last year and Kaman was injured for most of the year, it makes sense that the committee would have put him on the ballot ahead of Kaman in that case.
Hindsight is always 20/20.
See a post from Marc Stein (ESPN columnist on the committee) on TrueHoop:

To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.

I found a couple of things funny about that article.....
first…..It’s total BS. Almost that entire article is designed to mask the fact that they system for determining players to put on the ballot is stupid, and archaic. A month to print ballots so they can be ready in mid November? Are you serious. Like one commenter said, you can print a zillion copies of a newspaper overnight, but it takes a month to print all-star ballots? Ridiculous.
The other interesting thing was in the comments. Usually those articles are full of lame, juvenile, “Kobe Sucks, LeBron Rules” kind of comments, but there was none of that. Amazing how people can grow up when they are united over a particular issue. David Stern, take note.
Billy Mac: "Lamar, can you see yourself actually getting in the (boxing) ring"?
Lamar Odom: "No. My face is too pretty."

Hence why
You don’t blame the people who made the ballot, but the way the NBA organizes.
Also, if you haven’t gathered it already, the regular comments you see on ESPN are usually from fans who don’t have the emotional capacity, adequate intelligence, simple willingness, or all of the previous items to express an actual point beyond the rather inane “PLAYER X ROCKS. PLAYER Y SUCKS. WRITER Z IS WRONG!!” so go figure.
To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.

Regarding all-stars in general, I think most all the slots should go to guys on winning teams. So I’m OK that Kaman was left off.
Also, it is ironic to see Iverson on the list. I think he made the starting team for the east last year.
And yes I am a 2009 World Champion Fan.

lol yea, but we all knew iverson didnt deserve that spot
In Kobe we trust!

I’m sure he think he did which makes it all the more amusing for us non Iverson fans. I like it for the same reason I enjoy seeing Shaq lose in Mia, Phx, Cle. They both deserve their fates.
And yes I am a 2009 World Champion Fan.

My extremely early projected allstars are:
Nash
Kobe
Anthony
Amare
Duncan
Reserves:
CP3
Gasol
Roy
Nowitski
Billups
Williams
Kaman
Ariza
the last two of course are stretches, but I remember back in the day the NBA used to like to get guys from a wide range of teams.
Arenas
Wade
Lebron
KG
Dwight
Pierce
Rondo
Carter
Granger
J. Johnson
Nelson
Bosh
Shaq (its too hard to imagine an allstar game without shaq)
In Kobe we trust!

All-Star voting is a joke
They shouldn’t even make the list until December 1st, when people have actually had a chance to show they belong on the list.
Poster for next year? I'm thinking My Little Pony.
