Filling the Void: Predictions

As a desperate way to pass the time, I figured I'd predict what would happen for everything in the upcoming season. Let me know what you agree and disagree on.

Who will win the championship?: I say Lakers and I'm sure many of you will too. We have the best player, frontline, and team offense in the league. Obviously, injuries can happen, but until they do, I'm going with the Lake Show beating the Celtics in the Finals.

Who will win Finals MVP?: If the Lakers win the chip, Kobe would be the obvious frontrunner unless the other team has a 5-foot big man that can't guard Pau, so he kills them

Who will win the MVP?: Even though I believe Kobe is still the best in the game, with the talent he has around him, his stats will go down. Since Wade never has, and never will get the respect he deserves, and he seems like he's more likely to get injured than LeBron, I have to say LeBron.

Who will win Defensive Player of the Year?: Since Kevin's old, the DPoY award seems to be about blocks more than actual one-on-one defense, and (unless the media totally gets on their knees for him) there's no way LeBron will win both DPoY and MVP, I'll go with Dwight Howard going to back-to-back, and if not him I'll go with the ever underrated Chris Paul becoming the second point guard ever to win it.

Who will win Coach of the Year?: I'll go with Stan Van Gundy because I think the media is starting to love this guy and the Magic are one of the top teams in the league.

Who will win Rookie of the Year?: I'll take Blake Griffin. He was the best rookie in the summer league, and if the Clippers make the playoffs, it will... make sense because they have a huge ass load of talent a lot of talent.

Who will win the Most Improved Player?: I'm going with Aaron Brooks. I don't think he'll make the all-star team, but I think with Yao, Tracy, and Artest all gone/injured, Brooks will need to step it up like he did in the playoffs against the Lakers.

Who will win the sixth man of the year?: If Lamar Odom can play as well as we know he can consistently, (I know big IF) not only do I think he will win this award, I think he could make the all-star team. But if Drew goes down again and Lamar becomes a starter, but if he does not play consistently well, I'll take Manu Ginobli

Who will make the all-star team?

West: Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Tim Duncan, Carmelo Anthony, Andrew Bynum, Brandon Roy, Tony Parker, Pau Gasol, Deron Williams, Dirk Nowitzki, Chauncey Billups, Kevin Durant or Amare Stoudemire

East: LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Dwight Howard, Kevin Garnett, Gilbert Arenas, Paul Piere, Rashard Lewis, Jameer Nelson, Rajon Rondo, Shaquille O'neal, Danny Granger, Joe Johnson

Who will win the all-star game?: Not that this or any of the next three matter, but I'll take the east. They seem loaded with Gilbert Arenas and Shaq added to their team and the west losing Shaq as well as Yao.

Who will win the All-star game MVP?: Since there is no way to guess this, I'll say Dwayne Wade for no reason.

Who will win the slam-dunk contest?: I think Superman will be hungry for revenge on KriptoNate, so I'll take Dwight Howard.

Who will win the three-point shootout? I have absolutely no clue, so I'll just say Rashard Lewis.

Who will win the rookie-sophompore challenge?: The sophomores are just more talented and the rookies might be nervous playing at all-star weekend so I'll go with the sophomores.

Let me know if I forgot anything or anyone.
