Sometimes I think they do it on purpose....

Hear me out now lol, last year it seemed like this team thrived off lulling the opposition into a false sense of victory only to come back and snatch their hearts out.  Last night I got that same feeling, but it kinda bit us in the behind when we tried to rally.  Maybe its just me lol.  I dont think Kobe will shoot as bad as he did against dallas when we play atlanta.  im not the least bit worried, just making a personal observation is all

A friend of mine says that too.

I hate the “The Cavs and Celtics blow out teams consistetly, so they’re better” excuse. I don’t see the Lakers really put their feet on the gas until the 4th quarter.

It's just another one of those...

non-important, non playoff, non late in the year, non Gasol plays, non-Kobe blows everyone away type of games, you know (sarcastically) just your typical Laker game

This aint a laughing matter bro

i know im one of the few laker fans panicing already but im one of the few realistic ones. last nights game reminded me of the the 04-05 lakers with Smush,Kwame, and company…thats how sad it was to watch. now i know we didnt have Gasol, but last nights game wasnt even a contest. artest looked like garbage (why does he only shoot spot up 3’s?) kobe was playing like he was 50, Lamar was back to his old inconsistent ways,Fisher took his usually crappy shots and the bench was horrifically bad. the only two bright spots were Andrew and Shannon…Thats it. Not even Phil seemed to be into the game. its going to be a long season. Hopefully the lakeshow can get their act together in time when they play teams that they will see in the playoffs.( Boston,Cleveland,San Antonio,Orlando,Dener etc…)

More like one of the few over reactive ignorant ones.

lol that lull into a sense of false security is when our bench comes in!

i really dont think the lakers are trying to get psychological with their opponents, our bench does do a whole lot to help our cause. Our staters basically just didnt have very good game, but luckily not very good, means we’re still able to stay in the game. but when you put our bench in wiht no lead/momentum, dont be suprised if things go from bad to worse lol

In Kobe we trust!

bench

the lakers bench are overrated compared to what the celtics have.. i think our lakers have a lot more focusing to do.. but i think they are all more eager to watch now what TMZ is having for LO and Khloe.. just the other night a kardashian was showing off the championship ring of LO to the paparazzis like it was some kind of wonder toy..

yeah

i think our bench is overrated too…

someone on the bench needs to show up

and I think Phil should only play Shannon, Powell, and Farmer off the bench, then cut Sasha off

There are basic Fundamentals that are needed to move forward in this game. Always keep your guard up at all times to avoid being caught in a trap. Overcome the fouls that will be commited against you REBOUND AND PRESS ON. ADJUST to the LimeLight: ALL-STAR PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS THE CENTER OF ATTENTION. Know what your role is and play your position. Find a game plan and execute it. REMEMBER YOU ONLY GET OUT OF THE GAME WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT.

Once Lamar is back on the bench

we will have one of the strongest benchs once again in the league…

and sasha vujucic really SUCKS and should not receive any more playing time.. he is a spot up shooter and he cant make a 3! shannon should take all the 2 gaurd minutes from him.. and even maybe morrison for a few minutes… thats how bad vujacic is playing

by matthewmafa on Nov 1, 2009 8:29 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

agreed

we should give morrison a chance
the guy was a stud in college and in his first year of the NBA and were sitting him and allowing sasha to wildly shoot and pick up 20 fouls in 3 minutes….

Oy vey!

Morrison = great in college/flop in NBA

just like any number of college Heisman trophy winners — the so-called “Best Players in College” — have washed out in the pros.

Morrison put up huge numbers playing for a little school against mostly bad competition.

In the NBA, don’t over think it, use your eyes: he’s a catastrophe. As soon as his rookie deal runs out, he’ll be out of the league.

But to be fair...

When the Lakers did lose a game this badly (and it wasn’t often, but there were certain games like the first home loss to the Pistons or the really crappy losses to the Pacers and Orlando or the gouge your eye out loss to the Kings or the mark it down losses to the Bobcats) the Lakers usually always BOUNCED back with a win.

Especially if the media heads say the Lakers don’t have “heart” or “aren’t motivated” spiel.

Like last year, expect some rough patches throughout the year people. It’s to be expected in a season that 82 games and you’re the defending champs that you’ll have a target on your back.

I remember that first road trip and we had our first back to back losses against Indiana and Orlando. The bench was being questioned, their “heart” was being questioned, their “defense” was being questioned … seriously, it was soooooo over the top questioning because well, truth be told, that was a good team that just happened to lose some games.

I think we can all usually tell when the Lakers would lose a game or not and that Dallas game was a pretty obvious one: No Pau, Ron’s still adjusting, the Bench is MIA without LO, Dallas was hungry for their first win, etc. It’s a good wakeup call loss … better now than later.

Sometimes you need to lose a game or two to grow from … the Lakers usually did grow from their losses last year … hopefully they’ll do it again this year.

It's better to lose early

I can tell you this, the Lakers won’t wanna lose to the Mavs again. I’m glad the Lakers lost such a defeat on national television. They know everyone saw that. Look at the the third quarter against the hawks. They’re not the Mavs, but they’re half way decent.

Better to lose this kind of game early in the season rather than late April. I guarantee the Lakers wouldn’t have lost to the Mavs in early May.

Well let me welcome everybody to the wild wild west. A state that's untouchable like Elliot Ness.

In light of the team's final trip up north for the season. I thought we go down memory lane to look back at a classic game against the Warriors in Oakland. The day was April 20, 1999, yes the day of Columbine Massacre. Also, has anyone noticed that we have had a lot of classic games against the Warriors even though we have always assembled better teams than they did.?

Heres a new mix I made.

Kobe hasnt always been known as a clutch player. In game 5 of the 1997 Eastern Conference Semifinals, he missed a shot to win the game in the 4th quarter and 2 three-pointers to tie the game in the last minute of overtime, all of the shots being airballs. With that the Utah Jazz ended the playoffs for the Lakers in the 2nd round. Shaquille O'Neal commented years later that "Kobe was the only guy who had the guts at the time to take shots like that."

Ever since that horrible experience in his rookie year, Kobe has worked harder and has learned how to make those shots with the game on the line. This vid features some lines from Carmelo Anthony's Become Legendary commercial as well as some of Kobe's recent gamewinners.

Enjoy!
Kobe Game Winner vs Raptors - Whoa, I watched this and then I read the comments on Youtube claiming Kobe travelled, which I had not heard of. Then, after watching a few times, I have to say, I agree, Kobe changes his pivot foot before putting the ball down on the floor. I also think there's no way a ref catches that in real time, and even if they do, they can't be sure enough to call it then, either.
